Paul Fritz

While attending college, Paul was able to work with and learn from the instruction of creative, talented gardeners. He earned his degree in Biology and Chemistry, after which he struck out on his own in 1981, and Fritz Landscape Contractors, Inc. began. Within a few years Paul purchased eight acres west of St. Charles which became headquarters and a nursery. The property has storage for vehicles, equipment, greenhouses, field plantings and a separate building for office/administration.

The business operations were built on strong work ethic and Paul’s enjoyment of working with the crews on a daily basis. In doing that he is able to instill professionalism and honesty as well as provide clients with quality finished products at competitive pricing. In Fritz Landscape Contractors’ 40 years in business, most employees are encouraged to understand and are able to work in all aspects of the business. Thus, Paul is able to provide a full-service landscape program for all clients from design, build/plant and maintain the finished landscape.

Paul enjoys all outdoor activities including skiing, hiking, rock climbing, travel and learning new skills such as native and sustainable landscaping. He lives in St. Charles with his wife, Mary. Paul lives vicariously through his daughter and son-in-law who live in Colorado.

Mario Torres

Mario joined Fritz Landscape Contractors back in 1984, making him the longest-term employee with the Company outside of myself. Mario grew up in Mexico and moved here to find a career. He was quick to learn new skills and even quicker to learn English. It goes without saying that Mario’s skills are quite diverse and has allowed him to become my most able-bodied Assistant and Operations Manager. Not only does he help oversee general Landscape Maintenance Operations, but takes charge of all aspects of our Landscape Build Operations. He may be overseeing pruning and bed maintenance one day, then quickly off to planting or patio building the rest of the week. Mario lives in St. Charles with his wife and youngest daughter as well as an older daughter, husband, and a toddler nearby.

Jose Luis Baltierrez

Jose Luis joined us in the early 90’s with somewhat of a blank slate for landscape operations. But he arrived ready to work and learn. And learn he did! Over the years Jose has taken over our Landscape Maintenance operations. He and his crews are out 5-6 days a week with Jose overseeing and keeping the all the lawns manicured. Jose Luis lives in Elgin with his wife and 2 children.

Daniel Rodriguez

Daniel moved from Mexico in 2010. He is actually Mario’s nephew and was born in the United States spending most of his youth in Mexico near Puerta Viarta. He can make some killer seafood recipes! Daniel is a strong and hardworking addition to our staff. In the short time he has been with us, Daniel has honed his skills to wear many hats. He is truly an asset being able to work in maintenance one day and then switch over to construction and planting the next. Daniel lives in St. Charles.

Mary Fritz

Following the retirement of our original Office Manager, Mary came from retirement as a Reading Specialist and an Early Literacy Educational Consultant to take over the chaos of Landscape Office Operations. Without knowing exactly what she was diving into, Mary has had to build a quick knowledge of everything from daily landscape operations through the management of Chart of Accounts with Payables, Receivables, Vendors, Plants, Trees and the like! Patience and perseverance are not the only skills one needs for this job, but it’s the place from where she started. Not only will Mary oversee the invoicing of your projects, but often she will be the one returning your calls.

Barb Enright

Barb works part time in the office with Mary, putting her skills to whatever task is at hand that day or that minute. Barb is a great assistant to Mary in such things as invoicing, tracking jobs, answering calls, and everything else in between. Barb lives in South Elgin with her husband. She has 4 children ranging from Junior High, College and 2 College Graduates who are making their way – one in education and the other in entrepreneurship.
